Nitro's Jimbo Jordan passed 8 yards to Joe Rigney in the second
overtime to give the Wildcats a thrilling 28-21 season-opening
victory over host Hurricane Friday night.
Nitro's winning score came on a third-down play after Hurricane
won the toss and elected to go on defense in the second overtime
period. Hurricane's shot at tying the game failed on an incomplete
pass on fourth down.
In the first overtime, Nitro won the toss and elected to go on
defense. Hurricane took a short-lived lead on Lewis Henry's 1-yard
run before the Wildcats sent the game into the second overtime when
Greg Bibbee scored from 10 yards out on the first
play.
Bibbee also had an 85-yard kickoff return for a
touchdown.
Henry, who also had a TD during regulation play, carried 37
times for 184 yards.
