Nitro's Wildcats closed a disappointing season on a winning note
with a 14-0 victory over arch rival Poca at muddy O.O. White Stadium
in Poca.
Bret Caldwell dived the final yard of a 97-yard drive for
Nitro's first touchdown. The 16-play march included 10- 15- and
17-yard dashes by elusive Greg Bibbee, the Wildcats' leading rusher
. Bibbee finished the game with 154 rushing yards on 21 carries.
Poca, by contrast, could manage only 72 yards on 26 rushes as
the Nitro defense held the Dots in check. The Poca offense had only
127 total yards.
Nitro's insurance touchdown drive began in the third quarter
with an interception a midfield by Shawn Shamblin, who returned the
ball to the 38. After a pass from Jimbo Jordan to Todd Martin moved
the ball to the Dots 1, Jordan sneaked for the Wildcats final score
