There was a rare happening in the Nitro-Hurricane high school
football series on Friday night: a lopsided final score.
Nitro defeated the visiting Redskins 25-0 in a series that has
seen the games in this decade decided by an average of less than one
touchdown. In fact, nine points was the biggest difference over the
last seven years, and last season's game was the closest of all _
Nitro, 28-21 in double overtime.
To find a wider victory margin in the series takes a trip in the
record book back to 1971 when Nitro won 54-0.
The Wildcats completed only six passes last night, but made the
most of them. Scott Dixon averaged 23 yards per completion and threw
for touchdowns on plays covering 25 and 34 yards.
Nitro evened its record by scoring once in each quarter.
