Steve White threw a 20-yard touchdown pass to Patrick Coles with
8:15 left in the game and Nitro's defense shut down Dupont's offense
for a 7-0 victory at Underwood Field.
The touchdown climaxed a 60-yard Nitro drive.
The Wildcats' defense then stopped a DuPont drive inside their
own 10-yard line with less than seven minutes to go.
Nitro's Eric White ended the Panthers' final threat by
intercepting a pass at the 50 on the last play of the game.
The Wildcats' defense was led by Pete Hinton with nine tackles
and assists, including two sacks, and Phil Archibald with five
tackles and two assists. Nitro limited DuPont to 26 yards rushing
for the game.
Donnie Withrow led Nitro's offense with 121 yards on 12 rushes
