MATT MCNEEL, A 6-6, 215-POUND RECEIVER AND DEFENSIVE BACK FOR
Nitro High School, has verbally committed to Wake Forest University
of the Atlantic Coast Conference, Wildcats coach Greg Cyrus announced
today.
McNeel, who played both wide receiver and tight end for Nitro,
will be used as a tight end by the Demon Deacons, Cyrus said.
"It is his true position,' the coach said. "Matt has the
frame to go to 240 or 250 pounds and retain his speed. He's a
straight-A student with a lot of potential.'
Cyrus said McNeel has been timed in the 4.6- to 4.7-second range
in the 40-yard dash.
Despite injuries last season, McNeel made Class AAA all-state
second team and Daily Mail All-Kanawha County first team as a
defensive back.
